On September 17, 2023, the First Meeting of the 12th Shanghai Lawyers' Congress was held in Shanghai Exhibition Center. Award Certification
At the conference, Shanghai Lawyers Association conducted the quadrennial selection and recognition of law firms. Joius Law Firm, among nearly 1,900 law firms in Shanghai, stood out in the final evaluation stage after layers of selection procedures, such as recommendation, preliminary selection and final evaluation, and was awarded “Shanghai Excellent Law Firms” for the year of 2019-2022, and was honored with the title of “Shanghai Excellent Law Firms” “Shanghai Top 10 Law Firms”.

PROFESSIONALIZATION
In terms of foreign-related legal services, nearly 90% of Joius's business involves foreign countries, serving more than 30 Chinese and foreign financial institutions, and 1/7 foreign-invested enterprises listed on China's A-share market. More than 1/3 of our lawyers have overseas working or studying experience, and some of our lawyers are also licensed to practice law in the United States, Japan and China Taiwan, and can use English, Japanese, Korean and German for daily work and communication. We have been shortlisted by the Ministry of Justice as one of the “National Model Organizations for Foreign-related Legal Services”.
In 2019, Joius obtained the Emergency Arbitrator's Decision in a foreign-related case before the Shanghai Arbitration Commission, which was the third case in China and the first case in Shanghai in which overseas assets were successfully preserved through domestic arbitration; in 2022, Joius acted for a cross-border financial case in the retrial stage, and in the face of danger, it assisted an offshore bank to succeed in the retrial in the Supreme People's Court, and the case has been successfully reopened in the first instance; and from 2022 till now, Joius has successfully acted for an offshore bank in the retrial stage in the first instance in the Supreme People's Court. In 2022, we have also cooperated with Australian lawyers to assist our clients in applying to the Supreme Court of the State of Victoria, Australia, for the recognition and enforcement of Chinese court judgments, and applying for a freezing order.
REFINEMENT
In terms of party building, Joius has paired up with many party branches, carried out comprehensive civil-military co-construction with the Good Eight Company on Nanjing Road, and this year welcomed the No. 77 employee - the intelligent party building robot “Xiaojunjun”.
Social welfare, Joius led the creation of the mainland's first “Taiwan young legal talent practice base”. We arrange lawyers to work regularly at the Shanghai Taiwan Affairs Office and the People's Government of Meilong Town, and assist the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology, the CPC Jing'an District Committee and the Political and Legal Committee in resolving all kinds of petition cases.
DISTINCTIVENESS
In terms of books, Joius has published eight legal practice monographs consecutively, among which, Legal Practice and Case Analysis of Cross-border Financing for Chinese Enterprises and Classic Case Analysis and Practice Guidelines for Construction Disputes have been successfully shortlisted in the Top Ten Shanghai Lawyers' Series of Shanghai Lawyer's Series of the Year 2021 and 2022 by Shanghai Lawyer's Association.
NOVELIZATION
Joius has set up a “Legal Application Innovation Center” responsible for the research and development of legal service products, which has achieved many firsts so far, such as the first case of cross-border mortgage of real estate in China, and the first batch of data compliance assessment service providers in Shanghai. The firm has been awarded the “Shanghai Advanced Group in Judicial Administration” and the “Shanghai Lawyer Industry Contribution Award”. Joius lawyers have been listed by Chambers and Partners, The Legal 500, ALB and other rating organizations in the areas of capital markets, banking and finance, and commercial dispute resolution. Joius lawyers have been awarded the Shanghai Youth May Fourth Medal and the 2015-2018 “Shanghai Outstanding Lawyers” and other honors.
The tenth anniversary of the establishment of Joius, ushered in the Shanghai “Top 10”, which is a kind of honor, but also a kind of encouragement for Joius. Shanghai Excellent Law Firm are selected every four years, this time a total of 20 Shanghai excellent law firms, the top 10 and then awarded the title of “Shanghai top ten law firms”. This selection activity under the guidance of the Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Justice, in accordance with strict standards and procedures, organized by the Shanghai Municipal Lawyers Association, the purpose is to inspire law firms to actively serve the national economy and society and the construction of the rule of law, and to guide the industry to a healthier direction.
